《真探》由《无名》和《简爱》的导演Cary Fukunaga所执导，被认为是一部具备当代黑色电影特质的南方哥特式悬疑剧集。编剧由运作过《谋杀》的Nic Pizzolatto担当，并力邀Matthew McConaughey与Woody Harrelson主演。
