本剧以空军某场站卫生队为切入点，表现部队医疗工作者的精神面貌及辛勤的工作态度，展示部队卫勤事业及为兵服务的成果。主要表现新一代部队卫生战线的女军人的风采，展现她们对理想、事业、爱情的追求以及为国防事业奉献精神。讲述她们日常生活的点点滴滴、喜怒哀乐、磕磕碰碰、以及相互之间的矛盾和真挚的友情。同时，也通过来卫生队看病的战士的带来的故事，全方位表现各个岗位当代军人的生活。场景与人物设置在与情景喜剧《炊事班的故事》同一个场站，可以说是《炊事班故事》的姊妹篇。
